Another Day

I walked across a field 
And saw you standing there
A smile playing on your face
The sunlight in your hair

The dogs are very restless
They want to be away
I wondered deep down in my heart 
How long you’d stay today 

Again we crossed the field 
Now walking arm in arm
I heard a subtle distant sound
A bit like an alarm

The light is growing dimmer 
You’re looking slightly blurred 
I’d waited so long for this day
My wishes go unheard 

And now I’m lying in my bed
The dream just fades away
I am here and you are there
It’s just another day
