Morning Calm
The breeze blows gently between my toes
I'm lying on the couch in a state of repose
The curtains sway slowly left then right
Alternating the room with dark then light
My tea steaming hot is warming my hand
I'm listening to sounds the lie of the land
The drone of a plane way up in the sky
An occasional whisper as a car passes by
I’m beginning my day so slowly and still
Listening to birdsong first melodic then shrill
iPhone starts to buzz with my snoozed alarm
Calling me awake from my morning calm
