I used to get excited
By that tiny little ping
That call for my attention
The sound that draws me in
It could be friends or family
Or a message from my love
Or maybe advertising
A chance to buy more stuff
There’s more to life than waiting
On the whim of another’s call
A whole wide world of beauty
If I could only see it all
So I turned off notifications
And detoxed from my screen
I’m living in the moment
In a world I’ve hardly seen
And yes my phone is with me
As ever by my side
But I use it when I want to
Not pulled from far and wide
